Career and Life Reflection
During my time spent within Grade 10, 11, and 12, I have had many positive experiences at school, at home, and in the community that influenced my intellectual, social, and career development. This development has shaped the way I act and live.
My development intellectually was greatly influenced by my education. My experience in Library Science has helped me greatly to develop intellectually. I have a complete understanding of using the computer program Destiny to check books in and out of the Library. Reviewing books has improved my ability to create opinionated pieces of writing and has influenced and provoked more thought as I do simple things like read and watch the news. I have also realized that continuing reading throughout my entire life will ensure that I will never stop learning. Being an art student in Grade 12 and helping with the mural in the Library has aided my understanding and appreciation for the work that goes into creating art. Learning in an environment that has both English and French speaking students has improved my conversational french. Education and School has also influenced my social development through interacting with different students and being involved with various clubs.
My social development was influenced by attending school and getting an education. By being a member and the director of the Gay-Straight Alliance, I have to remain open and polite to my peer’s opinions about the issues that revolved around the club. I strive to help students understand the diversity of the LGBTQAP community. I have met many wonderful and interesting people through this club. I am very excited to present a PrideSpeak to Grade 10 students in Panorama Ridge Secondary School. This presentation will educate students about sexuality and gender identity. I contribute my own time out of school dedicated to this club, and other activities such as volunteering at a Senior Home and with a political party. Volunteering is a very enriching experience as it exposes people to the greater needs of others, and not only themselves. I also anticipate to turn 18 so I can practice my democratic rights to vote for who I want to govern Canada. This year, I have focused greatly on my career development.
Since I will be entering post-secondary, I have had to think a lot about my career development. In planning 10, I took the appropriate steps towards finding a career that is relevant to my interests. I have documented my volunteering experiences to greatly influence my chances to acquiring a part-time job. I have also done extensive research about the different programs I can enroll in post-secondary and about different career options with my potential degrees. I have created goals towards my education that I am in the process of completing. I am ready to work individually or as a team to improve my experiences within my career and education.
In the last three years, my experiences has helped influence my intellectual, social, and career development and has shaped me into a confident, responsible and driven individual who is ready to take on life outside of high school.
