Career and life
Transition Plan Goals
1. State your specific short term goals in detail (next 12 months). You should include personal, educational and career goals. Minimum 250 words.
This year, plan to apply to Kwantlen Polytechnic University to complete an Associate of Art Degree in General Studies so I can accumulate enough credits to transfer to Simon Fraser University to complete a Bachelor of Arts in History. Since Kwantlen Polytechnic University is fairly close to my parent's home, I plan on living at home until I graduate from my Associate of Arts Degree. Living at home would save me money that I can use on tuition. I plan on taking a wide variety of courses such as Drawing, Forensic Anthropology and Political Science at the Surrey Campus. I am going to find a part-time job to help pay for post-secondary expenses like books, tuition, and groceries. I would prefer a job that works with people, like working in customer service or in a Senior Centre. I plan on working a late afternoon shift and taking my classes at Kwantlen Polytechnic University during the morning. Looking back at my Daily Physical Activity Log, it is evident that I need to find ways to add physical activity into my life. I plan on participating in Yoga at my home alone every day for at least 30 minutes. Yoga would be a great activity because it is expense-free and it is a great way to alleviate stress. I plan on adding Swimming into my weekly life. I plan on going to the pool at least twice a week and doing laps for at least 30 minutes. I believe I will be able to achieve my goals within a year's time.
2. State your long term goals (next 5 years). You should include personal, educational and career goals. Minimum 250 words.
Within the next five years, I plan on accumulating enough credits from Kwantlen Polytechnic University to transfer to Simon Fraser University. I plan to start a Bachelor of Arts in History. I am looking forward to taking classes about World War I and II and it's economic and social effects on Europe, Canada and the rest of the world.. After I complete my Bachelor of Arts Degree, I will enroll in the January intake of the Professional Development Program to obtain a teaching certificate. In this program, I will learn the different skills needed to become a secondary school teacher. I will create my own curriculum with the information taught in the program and teach at a secondary school for a month. I am very excited to complete my schooling so that I can finally teach the subject I am most passionate of. I plan on using my income to rent my own apartment in a nice community. After doing Yoga in my own home, I plan on taking actual Yoga classes at a fitness centre near my newly rented apartment. I plan on going to the Recreation Centre more frequently to swim more and improve my physical health. I will work to add more hours of physical activity in my daily routine to keep healthy. I plan on taking a healthy cooking class to learn how to create delicious and healthy menus. I plan on presenting myself more in the community to hopefully make friends and create a social life for myself.
